What I pack for a Disney Trip

Plus a few things I don't but you might want to!

As a frequent visitor I'm pretty good now at packing, but there are things some people may not consider, some things which are disability specific, and some things I don't need to take but I like to take! Here I'll split it into those three sections and talk about some of the reasons why I do, or don't, take items!

It's also worth noting then when I am travelling solo I need to be able to manage my own luggage on multiple trains, coaches, etc and so I probably pack even lighter than I might if I am travelling with someone else who can help!

I have also added links to items I have used, if it's an amazon link this is an associate link for full disclosure and I earn from qualifying purchases, but these are only items I have used. All non amazon links are for info and I receive nothing for mentioning them or linking to them.

General Disney Packing

Clothes - I love to Disneybound so pack outfits for that, some like to wear coordinating or matching outfits, some want comfy, some want Disney theming. Take, and wear, whatever you want to and whatever you are comfortable with. There is no expectations and no need to dress up for anything, unless you want to. One thing to note is that costumes are not allowed for those over the age of 12.

Comfy Shoes - wheelchair users aside you will be walking a lot, Disney is not the time to break in pretty new shoes, bring ones which are comfy and you are used to wearing and ideally bring spare ones, they may get wet or end up rubbing so having some to swap out to will save the day!

Passport - that meets the validity requirements to enter France, it's surprisingly common for people to realise a passport is not going to be valid at the very last minute, check the validity requirements here: Gov.uk website

Money - ideally a mix of cash and a card with no fees. Disneyland Paris does accept cash, but cards (and apple/google pay) are also widely accepted usually even for the smaller carts. However card machines have been known to go down so having some cash can be useful and the luggage lockers at the train station are cash only. For card payments check your the terms of your card and if there are fees consider using a prepaid travel card or an account like monzo, starling or revolut.

Travel Adaptors and multiplug - while some hotel rooms have USB sockets and some even have one UK socket I wouldn't rely on this and would always take at least a couple of adaptors and either a multiplug extension or a multi USB plug, I use this one and then one adaptor. If you have medical devices you need by the bed I would also ensure you bring an extension lead. I also bring a dedicated adaptor for charging my handcyle attachment and keep it with the charger, I use these, one for the multiplug and one for my charger. I also have some of these which are more compact for use on the Eurostar for example.

Power bank - you will likely be using your phone a lot, to check the app, check restaurant reservations, book the hero training centre and to take photos. Power banks are available to hire in the parks but this is a chargeable service so I would just take one. There are loads and loads to choose from, I have these ones which are quite compact but if you have multiple phones between you or other devices you may need to charge during the day you may want a bigger one.

Medicines and First Aid supplies - all medications, including basic items like paracetamol and antihistamines, can only be bought in pharmacies in France, so if needed and you didn't bring them you would need to leave Disney to find a pharmacy. I just use a pretty pouch to bring these sorts of essentials and to also bring some minor first aid supplies, like plasters (and if you are not a wheelchair user, blister plasters) and antiseptic cream. I keep it packed between trips, and I wanted a cute Disney one, but any pouch would do the job!

Lanyard - this is just something to consider, some people like them, some people don't bother. If you are staying in a Disney hotel your room key and park tickets are on a magic pass, along with any meal plan and this is credit card sized so some people like to use a lanyard to hold them, or use one for pin trading. With a priority pass I like to use a lanyard as you have to show it frequently so I just find it easier. Some people like to buy these in advance from amazon/ebay/etsy but they are also widely available when there. The only thing I would recommend with a priority pass is perhaps pre-purchasing an ID badge holder for it to attach to the lanyard as I find this easier than a pouch, and it can hold my annual pass and photopass too.

Packing cubes/pouches/bags - I have tried these, some people love them, I don't personally find I can fit any more in using them, but they can help to organise outfits for each day or per person.

Minnie ears - again personal preference but a popular item at Disney, they can be purchased in the parks but are usually around 20-25 euros per pair, and you may want a specific character or personalisation so may want to order online in advance.

Autograph Book and Pens - again these are personal preference and may be bought in the parks, but you may want a specific one or specific pens like felt tips or sharpies. You may also want to consider alternatives such as a photo mount, t-shirt or cushion cover.

Reusable water bottle, concentrated squash and snacks - I always take a reusable water bottle, I love my one from Sho, but you can also get cute Disney ones or just one you already have, and then I take the mini robinsons super concentrated squash, or the aldi version, and top up during the day. Drinks are expensive in the parks (around 4 euros) and there may be queues, and I want to ensure I always have a drink when needed. You may also, depending on your luggage space, want to take some snacks, especially if you have any dietary requirements. The gov.uk link above also explains what food can be taken into France and what can't.

Wheelchair and Disability Specific Items

Wheelchair tool kit - I take a kit with allan keys, the torque key for my handcycle attachment, screwdriver and similar items. This is a kit I take everywhere anywhere and also has wet wipes for dirty hand emergencies. Sometimes I also take a spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers but honestly sometimes I forget, but if a tyre popped and I didn't have it I'd be very stuck so I do recommend taking it if you have a manual chair with pneumatic tyres. Ones for bikes are great as they often come in their own pouches, and can come with puncture repair kits too, like this one. My friend has recommended this compact pump to me, which I am hoping to get before my next trip because thankfully I haven't needed to attempt to use a hand pump while away but not sure I'd mange very well!

My Rio Firefly 2.5 Attachment - I have a manual wheelchair and days at Disney are long! I have an electric handcycle attachment which I take which allows me to use the electric power outdoors and then to remove it when I go onto rides, into restaurants etc. I have written more about using it here. I bought mine from John Preston and more information about it can be found here, but as with any major wheelchair purchase this is an area where researching yourself and ideally trying different options is key!

One thing I did add for reassurance when leaving it outside restaurants and rides was a airtag, which has been worth it, even though it's not been needed!

Cup Holder - A good cup holder is essential anyway but I love my one from Quokka, mostly because it holds stemmed wine glasses! it also holds bottles and cups and is light, compact and easy to remove if needed when travelling.

Flexible Tripod - This serves two purposes, I can wrap the legs round the handlebars of my attachment so I can have my phone in front of me for things like google maps, but I can also use it to take pictures if I'm solo. Mine is this one in a  cute mint colour!

Silicone lids - I have a great cup holder but as part of environmental measures you don't get plastic lids on drinks anymore and sometimes I also want to buy champagne and be able to actually carry it myself without spilling, so I always have some of these silicone lids in my bag!

Reusable Straw/s - and on a related note they only use paper straws and I don't like them so carry a reusable silicone one with me. not everyone likes these so if you do need plactic straws make sure to pack some with you.

Izzy Wheel Covers - I love these and have used double sided velcro and milk bottle plastic to make them more easily removable, so then I use metallic sharpies and ask characters to sign them. They have a really good range available, including Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars and they always get some lovely comments from other guests and from characters. I currently have this Disney 100 pair on and have been adding signatures!

Pixie Dust - I really enjoy making up and taking Pixie Dust with me, and I have written all about the sorts of things I take for this here.
