Wheelchair spaces on Eurostar trains

Eurostar currently operate two train versions, a fleet of older but refurbished e300 trains and newer e320 trains, which have different layouts. Both have 4 wheelchair spaces per train. If you have a wheelchair space booked you can tell from your seat numbers which type it will be but this is subject to last minute changes.

If you are in coach 9 or 10 it will be a e300 train, if you are in coach 3 or 14 it will be an e320 train.

e300 Trains

On the e300 trains there are 2 wheelchair spaces in coach 9 and 10 (4 in total). These are positioned around an extendable table with wheelchair users facing each other with a companion seat next to each wheelchair space. The table folds inwards to allow more space to manoeuvre into position, and then can be extended. Assistance call buttons are available.

There are no luggage racks at this end of the carriage. There are no seats across the aisle from the wheelchair spaces to allow space to manoeuvre but this area is then often used for luggage and depending on how much luggage this can make it difficult if you need to go to the toilet.

The toilet on this train is very small, even as an accessible one. I have an adult manual chair which only just fits inside with very little room to transfer and no space at all to turn the chair.

e320 Trains

On the e320 trains here are 2 wheelchair spaces in coach 3 and 14 (4 in total). These are positioned either side of the aisle with each wheelchair user facing their companion sitting opposite them, with a table between you. Assistance call buttons are available.

There is a luggage rack close to these seats and space to manoeuvre into position.

This type of train has a much larger accessible toilet, with my adult manual chair I can comfortably get to the toilet and once inside can fully spin my chair around.
