Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain

Discoveryland, Disneyland Park

Blast off into space aboard this thrilling rollercoaster ride featuring Star Wars. This is a dark ride with an impressive launch as you are shot upwards, it features inversions and high speeds, accompanied by a classic Star Wars soundtrack. This ride does go upside down though this is an inversion rather than a loop and is very quick.

Guests must be 1.20m to ride and the attraction is not suitable for pregnant women.

Queueing

The ride offers a premier access queue for those with a green coloured priority pass, which includes quite a lot of stairs. The accessible queue for all other pass colours can be found by walking down the path to the right of the entrance which leads to the Nautilus attraction and continuing past the Nautilus entrance.

Once you have found the accessible entrance it is level and smooth and there is a covered area but no seating is available.

Ride Access

The ride is a rollercoaster train which you board while it is stationary, you can take wheelchairs right up to the ride. There is a step over into the vehicle then quite a deep step down into the vehicle, and space for two passengers, but if a companion gets in first to help you in they are then at the wrong side to get out first to help you out.

I personally find getting out harder than getting in as it is a steep step up with very little to hold onto to help. This is one I don’t like to attempt alone!

Ride Comfort

The ride uses over the shoulder restraints which fit quite snug, so although this is faster and has inversions I find I am not thrown around as much as on a ride like Big Thunder Mountain. The inversion happens quite quickly and is not actually overly noticeable, but the ride is fast and with the lights in the dark can make me feel quite motion sick.

The music is quite loud and there is a lot of screaming from other passengers. There is also fast-moving lights.

Wheelie Good Score

I have got braver over the years and now don’t mind this ride, however it is not one which is easy to transfer into or out of, so I don’t like to ride if I'm alone and I don’t often have a companion willing to ride either!

I like the thrill and adrenaline rush of this ride but I admit I am not a Star Wars fan and the queue is nowhere near as interesting as the queue for Avengers Flight Force.

For me personally it’s a Wheelie Good Score of 3 out of 5.

Transfer Time - This ride requires you to be able to transfer into and out of the ride vehicle within 45 seconds.
