New Alice in Wonderland show begins

03 June 2024 - A new show in the Walt Disney Studios park, based on Alice in Wonderland, started on 25th May 2024 and is due to run until 29th September 2024.

The show is a vibrant rock pop sing off between Alice and the Queen of Hearts and features vibrant scenes, video, acrobatics, dance and BMX stunt riders.

New hire wheelchairs introduced in the parks

12 May 2024 - The parks have introduced some new wheelchairs available for hire, possibly replacing or in addition to some of the aging stock they had available. These new wheelchairs are attendant wheelchairs and do not offer the option to self propel.

While the self propel option at Disney was never great for anyone trying to self propel longer distances it did offer some independence for example in shops, but these new chairs require someone else to push them at all times. Attendant wheelchairs can be easier to push than the self propelled versions so for those that do need someone to push at all times this may be of benefit, as long as the option for either style remains available.

Lidded cups and plastic straws

12 May 2024 - Recent changes to environmental laws in France has led to changes in the type of containers offered for quick service meals.

In most restaurants quick service meals are served in plastic containers, including plastic cups and cutlery. These are intended to be returned to areas in the restaurant to be washed and reused. Paper straws are also typically the only straws offered. In some takeaway places paper containers are used.

However on a recent trip I was offered a paper cup with a lid instead of a plastic cup to make it easier for me to carry it while in my wheelchair, and I was also provided with plastic rather than paper straws, suggesting Disney is able to be somewhat flexible in order to meet guests needs. I can't guarantee these options will always be offered but it is worth asking if these items would be of benefit.

In Chalet au marionette I was offered a paper cup with a fitted lid to assist in carrying my drink, and was also provided with plastic straws.

Changes to the DAS pass system in the US parks

15 April 2024 - There has been an announcement that changes are coming to the DAS pass system used in the US parks. These changes are causing concerns for a large number of disabled visitors to these parks, but this system has always been different and completely separate to the system used at Disneyland Paris.

There has been no announcement or indication of any changes to the current Priority and Easy Access pass system which is used at Disneyland Paris to improve accessibility for disabled visitors. This system was last updated on December 03 2021.

New Show: Alice & the Queen of Hearts, Back to Wonderland to start May 25th 2024

The 32nd Birthday of Disneyland Paris on the 12th April 2024 brought lots of news and announcements about future projects, including the ongoing renovations to Walt Disney Studios, soon to be renamed Disney Adventure World (I look forward to that future editing session!). While much of this work will be happening over the next months to years the opening date for a new show, using the space previously used for the motor stunt show in the studios, has been revealed to be May 25th 2024.

The show, which is based on Alice in Wonderland, will feature stunt bike riders, acrobatics and will allow the audience to choose the final outcome, so promises to be a fun interactive experience and will add something new to the Studios Park while so much of it is a wall of fences.

No accessibility information has been released as yet but it should be accessible in a similar way to other shows, and once I have been able to test it out and hear from other visitors a new page for the show will be added to the website.

Information about the show can be found on the official Disneyland Paris website here:
