Cars Road Trip

Cars road trip allows you to board a tram and take a tour of some of the highlights of route 66, led by Sally she will show you the sights, including the worlds largest lug nut and the i-fuel tower, just be prepared for a surprise along the way when you reach cars-tastrophe canyon.

There is no height restrictions and the ride is suitable for pregnant women.

Queueing

The ride has a premier access queue available so easy access pass holders and priority pass holders with a green coloured pass use the premier access queue. For all other colours of priority pass the entrance is on your right hand side before you reach the main queue area and is marked with a wheelchair symbol.

This ride rarely has much of a queue, and has a large capacity as there is usually two trams running.

The queueing area is outdoors but undercover, with some music playing.

Ride Access

The loading platform is one large area and you are directed to the right row by cast members. There is quite a large step up into the vehicle but if you need something to grab onto or are transferring from a chair there are some railings you can hold onto. If you are transferring cast members can take any wheelchairs or walkers away as you board and return them when you arrive back, walking sticks or crutches can be taken on board and laid on the floor.

Wheelchair users can either transfer or ride in their chair, there is a wheelchair lift, similar to those used for boarding trains in Europe to allow wheelchair users to access the tram, then the chair is secures in place by cast members.

Guide and Assistance dogs are able to ride.

Ride Comfort

The trams have bench seating with no restraints, the seats are a comfortable height and depth. It is one long smooth bench so guests can slip into each other at one point.

This a spoiler, but important for knowing what to expect. The tour stops in a mock canyon where there are fire effects, large volumes of water in all directions and the vehicle is shaken from side to side. Those seated first (on the left side of the vehicle when it is moving) will have a greater effect, and may even get splashed.

Wheelie Good Score

For many guests this may not be the first ride they run to, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a visit. The area around the ride entrance has lovely theming and tends to be quite calm, and it's one of the small number of wheelchair accessible rides.

Although this ride is not the most exciting in the parks it is fun, great for cars fans, has some cute dad jokes and the canyon is still pretty impressive!

I'd give this ride a Wheelie Good Score of 4 out of 5.
