The Hollywood Tower Hotel was once the most fashionable hotel to be seen at in all of Tinseltown, but in 1939 5 guests mysteriously disappeared while riding in the elevator. No one knows what happened but the hotel was forced to close immediately and has been abandoned ever since, until you have decided to take a peek inside.
This ride is a thrilling drop ride, as you take a seat inside the doomed elevator.
Guests must be a minimum of 1.02m to ride and pregnant women are not allowed to ride.
The ride has premier access for those with a green priority pass, for other passholders requiring step free access the accessible entrance is a little hidden, it is in the rear of the gift shop at the end of the ride and can be found by walking towards avengers campus and walking down the path to the left of the building. The step free queue is level, though you do need to open the door to the shop and the shop is carpeted.
By using the step free queue you do miss quite a lot of the interior theming and the pre-show.
You can usually take wheelchairs and mobility aids right up to the ride, the front row of the ride is step free so you will be seated on the front row. There is no lip or step over to access the ride.
You need to give any walking sticks or crutches to the cast member.
Guide and assistance dogs are not permitted to ride.
The ride is definitely a thrill ride! You are secured with a lap belt, there is no shoulder or restraint bars, only the seatbelt. You are seated on a row of seats with backs and the seating is metal but quite comfortable and not too shallow a seat.
You will be lifted out of your seat on this ride, often for a few seconds which can feel longer than in is! There is no upper body support so this could be uncomfortable for some. The ride also has paranormal and spooky elements and a lot of screaming.
It took me a while to ride this for the first time, and I do enjoy it, and the sensation of being lifted out of your seat. I also love when the doors open at the top for the views. It’s also relatively easy to transfer to.
Saying that a massive part of the appeal of this ride is the fantastic hotel theming, and nearly all of this is missed if you use the accessible queue, and you are always in the same lift, so you never get to see the other 2 stories/versions that are available.
My personal Wheelie Good Score is 3 out of 5!
Here are some additional images showing the accessible entrance in the shop, the queue line and the final waiting area.
