General Hotel Information
3 Star Hotel, 15 minute walk to the parks
Sequoia Lodge is a 3 star hotel and is usually priced between Newport Bay and Cheyenne, though sometimes it can be cheaper than Cheyenne.
It had cute woodland and American National Park theming and has the following facilities:
- Hunters Grill, and at peak times, Beaver Creek Tavern - all you can eat buffet restaurant, serving a wide range of foods but featuring meats and raclette as the specialties
- Redwood Bar - cosy bar with a beautiful fireplace
- Northwest Passage - onsite shop selling Disney merchandise and some snacks and drinks
- Fitness Centre
- Quarry Pool - indoor and outdoor pool, towels and lockers are provided at the pool and a pool wheelchair and pool hoists are available.
There is 24 hour reception, concierge and left luggage facilities (free of charge). You can also use the Disney Express luggage service at this hotel. There is a lowered desk at reception. There are spaces with seating and for children to play in the reception area.
There is also a free shuttle to the parks, but this can get very busy. It is wheelchair accessible but I usually prefer to walk. The hotel has recently removed the curb which previously caused issues to access where the bus pulls up, however the bus still pulls up in the road rather than against a curb so the ramp to access it is very steep and in my opinion unsafe to attempt without someone to assist you.
There is a very small lift to get from reception to the restaurants and the lakeside exit/entrance. This can be a tight squeeze but it is possible to go round to the front of the building to avoid it.
The reception areas and immediate exterior of the hotel has flagstone flooring which can be a little bumpy, the carpet in the corridors is also deep pile which can make pushing a manual chair difficult. Most doors are heavy and not automatic, and often have a small threshold to negotiate while trying to keep the door open.
All rooms are accessible via lifts.
You can meet one of the following characters each day (which one is random) in a special National Park themed outfit:

Room Information
Standard (Superior) Rooms
Standard (Superior) rooms at Sequoia Lodge have 2 double beds and sleep up to four, plus an infant.
They have air conditioning and include drink making facilities as standard, consisting of a kettle and a coffee machine (Lavazza Blue, if you want to bring your own pods, though they are replenished daily). They do not have fridges except in Golden Forest club rooms. They do have in room safes and travel cots are available.
Standard bathrooms have a bath (though it has quite low sides) with a shower over. They provide shower gel, soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is a hairdryer but it is not very powerful.
The sink area is just outside the bathroom door which has the bath (with shower over) and toilet which can be handy if one person is showering and one wants to use the sink to get ready.
Some standard rooms are in the main hotel building but others are in separate smaller buildings called lodges, the rooms themselves are the same.
Golden Forest Rooms
Club Level Rooms and Suites are available at Sequoia Lodge, these are called with Golden Forest rooms and come with all the features of standard (superior) rooms bit with some additional room features and additional other benefits. Accessible Golden Forest Rooms are available.
Additional room features:
- All rooms are in the main building on higher floors
- Rooms have a fridge available
- Rooms are decorated slightly differently
- Turn down service available
Additional general features:
- Private check in area with luggage delivered to and collected from your room
- Separate Golden Forest Lounge area for breakfast, which is included, and afternoon snacks, plus all day non-alcoholic drinks
Accessible Rooms
Accessible rooms also sleep up to four plus an infant but currently consist of two interconnected rooms. One room has one double bed and an accessible bathroom and the connected room has one or two double beds (they may be trying to make them all have only one double bed) and a standard bathroom.
The floor is carpeted, although this is quite deep pile) and there is space to move around in a wheelchair. The bed is on legs with space to fit a hoist underneath (though Disney do not provide these). The room safe and hanging rails can be reached and there is a lower level peephole in the door.
There are no emergency cords. There are some plug sockets available but I would always recommend bringing an extension and multiplug, especially if you need items to be plugged in by the bed. Don't forget an EU adaptor! There are no sockets near the bed and the socket used for the lamp doesn't get power to it when the lights are turned off.
The accessible bathroom is a large wetroom with a sliding door. There is a sink area with space to roll under, a raised toilet with some grabrails and a shower. Within the shower there is a fold down shower seat and a fold down grabrail.
It is worth noting that while all standard rooms have a bath, a bath seat which raises up is available to use upon request.
Swimming Pool
Quarry Pool Accessibility
One benefit of Sequoia Lodge is it's indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub which can be great for a break from the parks. The pool is in a separate building and has step free access, towels are provided at the pool and all areas except for the slide can be accessed step free, with a lift for the few steps between the pool area and the hot tub area.
A self propellable pool wheelchair is available, however I have also been able to take my own manual rigid chair right up to the pool, but there is a foot bath area to cross which is a few inches deep.
Pool hoists are available for both the main pool and the hot tub. The hot tub has a wide ledge around it to allow you to sit and swing legs over. The pool has stepped access, including a handrail, rather than a ladder. There are a few steps down to the pool from the entrance and hot tub area, and a platform lift is available, the steps have a handrail.
There is an accessible changing room with a fixed bench, an accessible toilet which is spacious but doesn't have many grab rails and an accessible shower.

“There are definite pros and cons to this hotel as a wheelchair user, the lakeside lift is tiny, and the carpets and doors are awkward with a manual chair, but it's close to the parks and I like the theming, plus the bar is lovely!”
